Cocky’s Countdown = Big Win!
Thursday, November 9, University of South Carolina alumni joined together to make Cocky's Countdown a success! Cocky's Countdown—a one day-only crazy online blitz of spirit and generosity all aimed at creating a better educational experience for the school and students we love.
Together, we met our goal by raising $26,690 in support of every undergraduate student on campus this year. But we're not done yet, we need your continued support to help us reach even higher.
We're not asking much from every alumni, but we are asking for every alumni to play a part.

This has been a great day to be reminded of what our University of South Carolina experience has meant to us. With the deadline just hours away, we need everyone to join in the Cocky's Countdown. You've seen the reasons for yourself in the videos (above). You know that everyone working together will provide for the small, yet important things around campus. You know money doesn't grow on trees. And you know that an excellent generation of students—more than 23,331—rely on the alumni and friends of the university to help their years here be the best possible South Carolina experience.

Why Support the Carolina Fund?
You know how it is at your house—something always needs upkeep or replacing. On top of the mortgage and the insurance, there are the groceries and the gas bill. And then the washing machine breaks down.... It takes a lot to keep the household running smoothly. And frankly, nobody applauds when it's done well—but everyone notices if things start falling apart.
That's how it is for us at the University. All of the stellar academic programs, along with the scholarships, technology and so much more—exist on top of the general operational functions of the campus. The Carolina Fund impacts the student experience each day.
This week as our hearts return to the school we love, we want to help bolster the Carolina Fund. Whether or not you can get back to campus this week for Homecoming, you can be here in spirit when you join our efforts to help the school with a one-day blitz of alumni and donor support. It's our way of saying, we don't take for granted the wonderful campus and programs going on at South Carolina. This is an easy and a practical way to give back and to meet a real need around campus.
Why is the goal $23,331? When we considered the current needs for the Carolina Fund, we realized that we could really provide a boost to the school if we could raise $25,000 this week. That roughly comes down to $1 per undergraduate student. We'd love to do a lot more than that (we have more than 265,000 alumni!) but it would be a great start. Apart from the financial goal, we would really inspire the school by the number of alumni who step forward to say, "I'll help." You know, it's kind of like all your friends showing up to help you move—you just really appreciate the effort.
Our alumni and donors love the University of South Carolina—this is just a quick and do-able way to show it.
